HANGING CERAMIC ART
“There is something about not being connected to the ground and gravity but being able to move gracefully in the wind.“
Leslie has been creating art since her childhood and has dabbled in many different materials. She started working in clay in high school with a supportive ceramics teacher and went on to earn a degree in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute with ceramics as a minor.
She has always been attracted to color and texture, collects richly-colored items of clay and glass, and often incorporates beads into her ceramic work as pops of color. A versatile artist, she has also explored photography, stained glass, and jewelry making.
The textures in her ceramic work are made from found items that catch her eye. One of her favorite textures comes from a particular line of tiles made in Italy. The designs are deeply etched and make a strong, defined Moroccan pattern.
Leslie has been working at the Rohnert Park Community Center Ceramics Studio for the last six or so years and has done several craft fairs over the last few years, exhibited at Gallery One in Petaluma, and Made Local in Santa Rosa.
